What is grammar?

During the first unit about grammar, I learnt some
important things such as the parts of
speech and the grammatical structures.
Also, I understood why is very important to teach grammar in context. In addition, I agree in the fact that grammar rules describe written language most of the time
instead of spoken language. Regarding this topic, I think that it is necessary
to have knowledge about aspects related to the oral part as the use of contractions. On the other hand,
I checked the function of the different parts of speech. For example: an adjective describes or gives
more information about a noun,
pronoun or part of a sentence. Moreover, I remembered some important issues of word
formation. Thus, to make new words we can add affixes which are classified into prefixes and suffixes.
In addition, I found interesting the part about the use and form of grammatical
rules. These are two relevant issues to consider at the momento to teach them.
Finally, I would try to teach any grammatical structure in context because in
this way the students can understand how to use this structure in real life situations.

I think you have done a very good job including the most relevant terms in your reflection, because it make us to focus on the main aspects and understand easily what Grammar involves.
