What is phonology?

The
chapter about phonology
describes some key concepts related to this field of study. Thus, we found that
phonology is the study of sounds features in a language to communicate. Also, I
learnt that a phonemic chart
shows as the sound of vowels,
consonants and diphthongs. In addition, I
studied how contractions, linking, and intonation are important features of connected speech used in spoken language. Furthermore, I
realized the importance of word and sentence stress to convey the correct
meaning of what we say. For example: the intonation applied to ask a question
is very different at the one we use when we say a normal statement. This
knowledge about phonology can be used to plan a lesson according to the
different aspects of pronunciation. It can also help me to search the
appropiate strategy to use when I have to teach about this relevant topic in
teaching and learning English.

I consider that the information you have included in this reflection is so helpful to understand how language can be presented deppending also in our pronunciation, and the sound that can be presented at the moment to listen to someone speaking.
